Confirmation before Communion has ended forever?

Why shouldn’t it be? Confirmation is not required to receive Communion.

It is in the Eastern Churches. The question should be why the Roman is the only sui juris church that does not follow this discipline.

It did before 1910 and it does again in more and more dioceses. Mine is the only one I know of that has regressed: we had 9 years of Confirmation then First Communion at the same Mass around age 7 then we were merged with a diocese that Confirmed in grade 10 – now we’re back to Confirmation between grades 6 & 10.

At the time of this latest change it came to light that catechists had been complaining about having to prepare the children for 3 sacraments, although it was all done together in a single program. I taught it for the first year and it wasn’t onerous. In fact, I’d say it was easier than the process that my children went through.

What is happening in Europe and what we have been told to do by the Vatican is to confirm at the age of 7. The U.S. was told to do this over 20 years ago and we have asked for and been granted extensions several times. The Vatican has said no more extensions.
I’m wondering if you can provide a source for this information?
Thanks.

I have found an older thred that answers my question, thank you .

What we have occurring today is absolutely a heresy.
I don’t know if it’s a heresy but the discipline is certainly wrong headed. I don’t know why most RCs at least in America offer the Eucharist prior to confirmation. Nor do I understand why the three initiatory sacraments aren’t done all at one time.

Do you have a link? This is very encouraging.
