I am a Confirmation catechist and last night was our first class of the year. I began as a Confirmation catechists somewhere around 20 years ago and I have served in this roll at least 10 times over the years. Last night’s class was the best ever! Every year that I have taught has been filled with blessings and grace for both the kids and myself. This year’s class is the best I have ever had!
I have 21 8th and 9th graders in my class. The total program at our parish this year consists of about 160 kids. Every class I have taught before had it’s challenges - especially in the form of hard to control boys - though we always made it to the goal. This year, all of the students really want to be there (some even requested to be in my class) and most of them took part in our discussions - often very deep discussions. I have know many of these kids since they were very small (my daughter is in the class) and I have seen them grow-up over the years.
I truly hope and pray that all of the other Confirmation catechists out there have a little bit of the joy in their hearts that I have in mine this morning. I also ask for prayers of protection for us and the kids.
The future of our Church is in good hands!
