Thanks! It is a great program. We already use it as a supplemental program.
Our Bishop has drastically changed our program and is very particular about the resources we use.
He is OK with DP as a supplement, but we have to use a different text as a primary source.
Right now, we are using the “Catholic Faith Handbook” from St. Mary’s Press.

ETA: I love the videos that go with the program, and so do my kids!!

I’m not familiar with that one. There are many who like the Lifeteen program but our priest doesn’t care for it, not sure why, so we don’t use it.

I heard Christopher Wesley speak at a conference and he has a book, “Rebuilding Confirmation”. I have the book but haven’t been able to read it yet. (I’m read his book "Rebuilding Youth Ministry currently.) He has some very interesting things to say about youth ministry.

The CFH is not really a Confirmation program, it is more of an HS religious textbook.
We have a list of components that the Bishop wants to be covered over the 2-year preparation process.
Right now, how we get there is up top the parish. That will be changing over the next several years as all Sacramental prep and Faith Formation is standardized throughout the diocese.

I second the thought of involvement in the parish. It is my understanding, however, it is preferred that roles such as usher and lector are maned by those already confirmed.

As one who TAUGHT this for four years:smiley:

1st Teach the CREED and what it actually means

3 td Teach HOW to read and use the bible: and at the same time PROVE how the RCC is the ONE True Faith and Church
Mt 10:1-8
Mt 16:15-19
John 17: 17-20
Mt 28: 18-20
Eph 2:016-22
Eph. 4: ALL of Chapter four and discuss each of the Teachings

3nd teach the Sacraments STRESSING:
the Eucharist: FIVE different authors testify to it being TRUE
Mt 26:26-28
Mk. 14: 22-24
Lk. 22: 17-20
John 6: All of it BUT stressing verses 47-57 & 66-72
1st Cor PAUL 11:23-30

Confession:{ How to make an examination of Conscience [GOOGLE IT]
Explain that Sacramental Confession was NOT a Jesus innovation:
Exo. 28:ONE [would not permit me to enter " 1"
Lev. 5: 16–18
Ecc 4: 31, 39:9
OT sins were Covered-Over, not actually forgiven which Yahweh accepted because of their ignorance and HARD heads and hearts.

It was expanded and Perfected by Jesus. OT Brought Grace and actual Sin FORGIVENESS through His Catholic Priest

1 Jn 1:6-7
1 Jn 5:16-17
John 20:19-23**

And Confirmation; which creates a personal Covenant between them and God

I Begin each class with a PRAYER & with no more than 15 minutes of OPEN faith related questions.

I KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU ASKED; BUT THIS IS A OR SHOULD BE A CATHOLIC PARENTS EXPECTATIONS FOR REAL LIFE PREPARATION

God Bless you and your ministry; pray very much. ALSO I attended Mass every day I had a class to teach and asked for the HS to guide me.

God Bless you,
Patrick

Thank you everyone for your comments. The question I want answers and/or opinions on is what is your expectations from a teen confirmation candidate?

I have a program in place and it is working well. I don’t need advice on what program to use or how to teach confirmation. (At least with this question.) I have very experienced catechists who have been doing this for years. I just want to know what parents and parishioners expect from the confirmation process>
