Confirmation names

I wanted to ask. Could someone take the name of a person who is blessed? Like Blessed John Paul II or Blessed Gerard or Blessed Karl of Austria?

There is no obligation to take a saints name or even a different name than the one you were baptized with. I don’t see anything wrong with taking the name of a “blessed” instead of a canonized saint.

I quickly looked up Baptismal names:

The Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraph 2156 states:

"...In Baptism, the Lord's name sanctifies man, and the Christian receives his name in the Church.  This can be a name of a saint, that is, of a disciple who has lived a life of exemplary fidelity to the Lord.  The patron saint provides a model of charity; we are assured of his intercession. The "baptismal name" can also express a Christian mystery or Christian virtue. "Parents, sponsors and the pastor are to see that a name is not given which is foreign to Christian sentiment."

Taking a Confirmation name is a wonderful thing. A name of a Blessed is certainly a worthy Confirmation name.
