My friend told me the other day she was Confirmed when she was younger, but some time after she was Confirmed, found out that her sponsor was not yet Confirmed at the time of her Confirmation.

My friend’s sponsor was in the process of getting confirmed some time after my friend’s original confirmation.

Is my friend’s Confirmation still a valid confirmation…or not?

A sponsor does not effect the validity of the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Yes! The sacrament is not considered valid or invalid based on the sponsor.

Can. 892 Insofar as possible, there is to be a sponsor for the person to be confirmed; the sponsor is to take care that the confirmed person behaves as a true witness of Christ and faithfully fulfills the obligations inherent in this sacrament.
It does not state that a sponsor is mandatory, only that one is recommended.
