Confirmation prayers

Yesterday at Mass the young people who are going to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in our parish this spring were presented to the congregation. Each of them had filled out cards with their name, confirmation date, asking us to pray for them. I got one of the cards.

Can anyone offer a good confirmation prayer? Thanks.

I go for the simple approach: “Lord, please help Jane Doe as she prepares for her Confirmation.”

Jesus,you are the great man in battle,by confirmation we are made your soilders,give your chosen ones who you recently raised to be your soilders the grace to fight the good fight of faith not by their swords but by their good lives,proclaimation of the gospel and in the defence of the church,so that after this live we all will receive the crown of glory that you the king of kings reserve for all your soilders who have fought the good fight through jesus christ our lord,amen.

Thanks! I think I’ll use the first one every day, and the longer one for Sundays.

I don’t know why it’s so difficult for me to come up with simple prayers.

we prepared a prayer and song sheet to the Holy Spirit, with the two most widely know traditional prayers to the Holy Spirit, and the sequence for Pentecost, and an invocation before reading Holy Scripture, and a confirmation prayer from our textbook. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of thy faithful. . . always works for me.
