hello!

I have a bit of a silly question, my husband and I will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in April, we have been going through the RCIA process, and our Parish has chosen to confirm those of us who are prepared when the high school Cofirmation class will be confirmed by the Bishop.

My Husband’s family is Catholic, as are some members of my extended family. We live several states away from all of them, because we are a military family. Is it appropriate to send out an announcement or an invitation to them? Most of our family members wouldn’t be able to come due to the distance, but I would like them to be thinking of us that Sunday as we receive this Sacrament, and perhaps say a prayer for us that day. Is this appropriate?

THanks,
Jamie

How wonderful that you are going to be confirmed. What a great idea to send something to relatives. Wish a little of your enthusiasm would rub off on some cradle Catholics. One of the true treasures of our church is our converts.

God bless you,
Deacon Tony

Yes, send them a card and specifically ask them to pray for you both. It is also just fine to send the same to protestant family and friends asking them also to pray for you.
