Hi all,

It has been sometime since I have been on. Over the years, I have been on a spiritual journey and am so happy to have been led back to the Catholic Church. I have a question regarding Confirmation. I was baptized as an infant in the Catholic Church and I have made my First Holy Communion as a child. However, I was not confirmed. How would I go about getting confirmed as an adult? I have done some research and have come across the suggestion of going through the R.C.I.A. process. Every description I read about this, though, states that it is for adults who have not been baptized Catholic.

Any help regarding my next step would be welcome.

Thanks,
Joe

Talk to your pastor. Some parishes include Catholics in need of confirmation in the catechesis portion of RCIA. Some run a separate adult confirmation class. If it’s a small parish the pastor may do one-on-one instruction.

When and by whom you are confirmed will be local diocesan decisions.

Some bishops want to confirm the adult Catholics in a special mass for all the adults in the diocese, some do it whenever the parish has confirmation scheduled for its students, and still others will delegate to the pastor to do the confirmation who may confirm the adult Catholics at the same time the confirm candidates coming into the Church.

So, make an appointment with your pastor to get the ball rolling.

Thanks for your help. I will do that!! I appreciate your time 🙂

The RCIA process is not only for those who have not been Baptized. It is also for those who have been Baptized & not Confirmed. Check with the RCIA Director in your Parish.
