I ordered a Confraternity New Testament from the Catholic bookstore but I won’t be able to pick it up until next week.
Is anyone familiar with it and could you tell me what you think about it?

It is the Douay-Rheims with updated English spellings and grammar. I had one as a child.

I use the pocket-size edition, and I find it to be something of a cross between the D-R and the RSV-CE. I also like the way it is divided up into daily readings for the entire year.

Excellent. I have the pocket size also. In fact, that was why I originally got it–to have a NT that I could stick in my purse, Or slip in a pocket.
It turned out to be one of the most readable versions I have ever read. Yet it has a traditional ‘feel’, if that makes any sense. Like the RSV in that, I think–the language is up to date, but there is still the familiar way of stating things…Some newer versions seem to want to be as far from the older versions as possible. This is one of the few that get the balance.
It’s really too bad that you can’t buy the whole Bible. It would be a terrific one to use. :twocents:

They were going to update the OT, but the NAB was published, and the project was scrapped.
