I should have thought that would have been obvious and already established by generations of research with real subjects. The baby’s inclination to sleep is in inverse proportion to mom’s need for sleep herself. The crankier she gets the more the baby is digging it. Nobody who has not dealt with a “hey, mom, guess what, I’m nocturnal” baby knows what sleep deprivation really is.

LOL! Yep, from all the sleep deprivation studies done in my house, I have to say your right Annie! 😛

Do you know what is really depressing? Reading an article telling you the importance of teaching your child to sleep and the importance of getting sleep for yourself, when you have a 5 mo that doesn’t feel the need to sleep!!

My babies rival Malia’s Lilly in the way of sleep. Out of my 8 on earth, 2 were “sleepers.” I had one walk outside at the age of 2 at 3 a.m. He was up and ready for the day! We added locks and slept lightly. (I awoke with the sound of the door opening.)

**Yikes!!! I am always afraid of something like that happening… guess that’s why she sleeps within a gated mattress, with the door closed, and high locks on ALL of our doors:D

Before then, I wondered about the stories of kids wandering outside in the middle of the night…now I know! The house was a rental and we couldn’t add the locks we wanted. Once the lease was up, we moved into our own home…with better locks! He also learned to turn on the TV and put in a movie. We’d wake up a few nights a week, turn the TV off and put him back to bed.

He’s now a teenager and sleeping in is 8:30. So much for teenagers sleeping until noon!

DD#1 keeps the same sleep schedule she did as an infant, down by 11, up by 5, and gets up in between if she gets an idea for an activity that can’t wait. she is starting to feel it, though, hitting 40, and sometimes gets up as late as 7 in the summer.

I console myself with the idea that I am a mother to children who will be very productive. They have boundless energy and seem to need less sleep than us regular mortals.

That thought and a bit of adoration time gets me through these sleepless days.

:compcoff: This is me if you add a nursing baby :o
