I heard a lady on EWTN tell a caller today that if he hasn’t allready,he should consecrate himself to Jesus through Mary. What exactly does that mean?

To my understanding, consecration is a type of devotion, usually consisting of taking a personal vow between yourself and God. A consecration to Jesus through Mary, then, would be a devotion to Mary, and through Mary, bring yourself closer to Jesus. A devotion to Mary, or any Saint, is using them as a sort of role model to better yourself and your relationship with Christ. Like having a mom or dad being a role model for the son or daughter’s relationships with others, such as a romantic relationship.

The way I view a consecration to Jesus through Mary, it is a promise of devotion and love for Jesus; a promise to follow His commandments; a promise to bring Him into every aspect of your life; while asking Mary to help us along the way with these promises

I’m on day 29 now and finish mine on Our Lady of Guadalupe’s feast day on Wednesday. I actually bought one of the St. Montfort books to follow the meditations each day instead of having to read on-line. It’s been somewhat eye opening. Lots of people don’t stick with it for various reasons. I’ve learned a lot about myself and my faith these last 29 days.

There are easier ways to do it- much shorter than 33 days- but I think you lose a lot of it that way.
