I want to know if a priest is required for making the consecration effective or if all that’s needed is one’s will and intention. Also;is it possible to be consecrated to both Joseph and Mary at the same time?
is a vow of celibacy required or can you get married afterwards?

im considering doing the consecration,my life is doing fine but I feel i could go further regarding spiritual life,im living somehow tepidly.

Consecrations of oneself to Mary or Joseph or both are usually made on one’s own and do not require a priest.
In some cases a priest may be leading a whole group of people to make their consecrations as a group, but he’s just acting as the spiritual leader, he’s not performing any necessary priestly function.

Yes, it’s possible to be consecrated to Mary and Joseph at the same time. I am, as of this morning. I was already consecrated to Mary since 2017 and consecrated myself to St. Joseph this morning following my 33-day program as set forth in “Consecration to St. Joseph”, the recent book by Fr. Donald Calloway MIC. He explains right in his book that it’s fine to be consecrated to both.

One doesn’t make a vow of celibacy for these personal consecrations. One of course is supposed to continue to live chastely according to their state in life, which for a layperson who isn’t a priest, member of a religious order etc just means you do not have sex outside of a Church-approved marriage. If you’re a single layperson you can still get married.
