During the Year of St Joseph, I would like to consecrate myself to him in preparation for his feast.

I’d also like to Consecrate myself to Mary but haven’t done so already. I have a special devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and it’s my understanding that you renew your consecration on the Marian Feast of your choice each year. This would mean waiting almost an entire year to consecrate myself to Mary but consecrating myself to St Joseph in a few months time.

My main question is, is it acceptable/morally right to consecrate myself to St Joseph before Marian consecration? Should Mary come first really?

I could prepare for Marian Consecration on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes instead, as I have visited Lourdes on pilgrimage quite a few times and then consecrate myself to St Joseph afterwards. Could I then later renew my consecration on a different Marian Feast if I wished?

Also, can you consecrate someone else to Mary and Joseph? I heard Jackie Angel say she’d consecrated her “future husband” to Mary long before she met him.

I’m just thinking ahead that if I consecrated myself to Mary on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, I could always consecrate a loved one to her on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe in the future…if it’s permitted.

Thank you in advance for any replies.

All these things you describe are private devotional practices.

There are no “rules”. There is no “morally right” involved in consecrating yourself to Mary or Joseph first (do you honestly think Mary would be upset that you honored her beloved husband?). You can do them as you wish.
