I tried to find out how to add a picture of our Sacred and Immaculate Heart area and Reliquary Wall, but I have no idea how to do that and don’t know a thing about URL links, so you’ll have to use your imagination.
I’ll ramble on a bit, but below all this are the links…the last link should probably be your starting point.
First, a heads up that there is a group (priest and a couple others) who “teach” that your family cannot be saved outside of such a consecration. Obviously The Church does not teach this, so just watch out for that in case you meet such a group when looking for a Priest to help with the Consecration. You don’t “need” a Priest, but part of the whole point is to bless the images, and treat the Sacred Heart image as though you were attending Adoration (not worshiping the image of course, but remembering that Christ is the King of your household, which he placed you as the head of).
Second, I do not hold a rigorist mentality on anything, so while we probably made the 9 First Fridays when we first consecrated our home, I also travel a lot and have seven children, so I tend to keep things focused on what’s important and keep in mind that Christ chastised those who held fast the rules, but lost the whole concept of charity. What we did was had Monsg.John McCaffrey (our Priest when we lived in Bryan) come over and he led the Consecration (again, see the last link). We made a big deal of it (meal, cake…) to stress to our children the importance of inviting and keeping Christ as the center and head of the home. We disconnected the cable (still have an “antenna” TV in the back for homeschooling and football though) and where most families would have a TV, we have our “altar” of sorts, which gets lots of looks when we have company (includes the blessed images of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts, and a Reliquary Wall).
After doing all of the formal consecration prayers, our main thing is that every night, to close our family night prayer, we do the consecration prayer, found online here:

Then I give each child a Father’s blessing, tracing the Sign of the Cross on their foreheads, and ask Christ for the same blessing on each of our Godchildren and our two miscarried children.
