Consecration to the Sacred Heart

Has anyone consecrated their house to the Sacred Heart? If so, what has been your experience.

Did you and your spouse decide together? If so, why? Did one of you need convincing? If so, how did that happen?

What are the benefits you have experienced? What resources did you use?

Yes. My wife and I shopped together for a large framed picture and put it up in our living room. I copied an enthronement ceremony from the internet. We brought the kids into the ceremony and ended by signing a vow. We placed this on the mantle beside our picture.

Benefits:
I was raised Baptist as were my children and only joined the Church six years ago. This year my 16 year old daughter entered the church at Easter Vigil. In May my son (age 14)said he was ready to go though RCIA and join next Easter.

I think I heard about enthronement to the Sacred Heart of Jesus years ago on Catholic Answers.

How did you and your wife decide to do this? Did you hear about it at a talk? If one of you heard of it first, how did you address the issue with the other spouse.

I don’t want my husband to think I am crazy for suggesting the idea, so I am not sure how to approach the issue in a way he’ll respond well to.

Any help would be appreciated.

I’ve slept since then so I don’t know for sure where we heard this (it was about four years ago). My wife approached me and I looked it up on the internet. I thought it was a beautiful devotion.
