Can somebody explain consecrations to me? Such as consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Miraculous Medal, Holy Spirit, etc. What is the purpose and advantages of consecrations? What does it entail? Also, how would I explain it to a Protestant? Thanks!

A consecration is a public vow in which you devote an aspect of yourself to a specific tenet of the fiath. Consecrations are usually “complete” consecrations, meaning a person offers their entire life, will, and being to the service of that which they are consecrating themselves.

It is possible to make multiple consecrations. For example, one can make a complete consecration to both the blessed virgin, and to the Holy Spirit, because in complete service to the blessed virgin, you will only be asked to do that which the Holy Spirit asks of you.

“Consecration” means to specifically set aside a person, place, or thing for a holy purpose. 🙂
