thanks for reply…when I read the mention of st. Padre Pio something you might be interested in came to mind: I think in fact I’m almost positive, that if I lived during his time, I probably would have been so much in awe of him,that I probably would not have sought him out for confession at all and in fact I would have made it a point to stay away from him… however now that he’s a saint I feel like: Well, Padre, you’re a saint now and you have to hear me even if in this life it could have been intolereable to you.
 
Knowing the God knows me better than I do and knowing that I would tend to give myself the benefit of the doubt or try to make excuses for not doing what I should, I think I would have confessed to Padre Pio even if I was somewhat fearful of his response. Because TRUTH does matter so much, It would be better to get the TRUE response and not one that I may have controlled by how I presented myself to a confessor.

Then again I may have whimped out.

thnks for the reply…for some reason it seems to me now that padre pio is very accessible, spiritually, maybe that is one of the charisms of sainthood.
