Considering moving back to PA

Or maybe the answer will just tell her where she wants to be in the summer.

Whatevergirl, I think this is a seasonal issue that will probably resolve by winter. The summer heat and humidity, along with lack of seasons such as you had up north, are getting to you. I remember a thread several months back asked, “do you like where you live?” and you loved living in Florida then. Every place has it’s pros and cons. Right now I really like where I live, but in six months, I’ll have my own seasonal issue. I’ll wonder why we ever moved, if God knew what He was doing when He lead us here, etc., etc…

Truth is, this world is imperfect. If we were completely happy here, we wouldn’t long for heaven.

*:rotfl: hahaha I just read your comment to my hubby. He laughed. You might be right…you know, back in January and February of this year, wow, the weather turned super cold (for the south) for about a month…it was awesome, and my kids stopped lamenting over Pittsburgh. So, you could be right…it’s funny, this is something my husband loves about Florida. He loves that everything ‘stays the same’ around us. He said ‘people get old quickly up north, the change of seasons marks the calendar.’ Interesting way of viewing it, I guess, but maybe we are creatures that need some changes in our environment now and again. I am going to take things as they come, and enjoy the vacation. Thanks for your thoughts. *
 
Having been born in a small town just outside of PIttsburgh, I agree with you whatevergirl about the friendly people there! :yup:

Even though my parents moved back to Buffalo, NY where all their family was only 6 months after I was born. :rolleyes:

As for me, I’ve lived as a single woman for a couple years in Maryland and most of my life in Ohio, and love it here and want to stay in Ohio, … but who knows where I’ll end up with the economy the way it is and my career a crazy tightrope walk between contract technical writer and … artist (fine art nature scenes photography), of all things, which comes as a surprise to me too!

My life’s always been a bit on the weird side, so moving to Maryland, moving to Ohio, and being spared from moving out of Ohio last fall were all quite dramatic. (Won’t hijack your thread with the stories but maybe we could chat in PM or something if you’re interested.) I really hope to stay where I am now but must be prepared to go where the Lord sends me.

Good things about Ohio:
  1. The Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel in my English-language parish.
  2. The Latin Mass parish in downtown Cleveland.
  3. Kelleys Island
  4. The Hocking Hills
  5. Horseback riding opportunities
  6. Snow! Snow! Snow! Snow! Snow! :extrahappy: (Can you tell I grew up in Buffalo during the Blizzard of '77 and loved it?) 😃
  7. Birdwatching … Quite a variety of spring/fall migrants, summer breeders, and winter visitors.
  8. Within driving distance to visit family for holidays and attend art shows in Western New York.
So since I was born in Pittsburgh, would I ever consider moving back? Well hey, if there are indeed decent jobs there, it’s definitely worth checking out.

Anyways, definitely agree with all who said that deciding where you live is something well worth taking to the Lord in prayer.
 
“Weg” my heart goes out to you. Truly. And you’re all in my prayers. I understand so well… the feeling of being “displaced” from one’s native land.

My mother and I were “talked into” moving from Southern California (Los Angeles county, beach cities) to our current location (southeastern U.S., not far from Florida… actually). The rest of the family… all of them… who worked on us, for so long to move here… ended up moving BACK to California without us. So, in addition to the “displacement” we’ve also suffered repeated abandonments. The family left in stages… first my sister and her kids. Then, my other sister. Then my Aunt and cousins. Leaving us totally alone here.

And here we stay… for lack of financial resources. Also… due to my mothers extremely fragile health. I know you’re praising God that you have a close, supportive family. They are a blessing. I hope that you will find peace with the location you decide on. I know it’s a struggle, when you don’t feel “at home”.

Pittsburgh is the City of Champions. It’s definitely a winning situation 😉

We are planning a trip next month for a wedding to Pittsburgh…we’re taking in a Pirates game, seeing relatives, seeing old coworkers and friends, hitting our old hot spots… :bounce: Can you tell, I’m excited? :D*
