An atheist friend asked me this question:

If Jesus had a contageous disease and someone caught it from him, would that be considered an evil?

Thoughts?

Your friend does not understand divine nature. No disease or poison could ever harm Jesus he was above the natural world in that sense. His ‘what if’ scenario is an impossibility.

Jesus chose to subject his human nature to the sufferings of this world. Therefore he was able to suffer in this world just like any other normal human, in spite of the fact that due to his being immaculate from sin, he would have ordinarily been immune from suffering.

Consider this: if Jesus was immune from disease or poison, how is it that he was able to suffer the wounds of the scourging, crowning with thorns, and crucifixion? Would not his body also be immune from those injuries?

That was a mission of redemption that he freely accepted. The question is about contagious diseases before his mission to fulfill the Passion prophecy. Not possible in my mind. You can believe what you want of course.

In the account of Jesus and the (single) leper, (a very contageous disease) we note that Jesus touched him. Yet did not contract leprosy, nor pass it on to others He subsequently touched.

To me that kind of tells you the OP is flawed. Jesus is incapable of Evil.

And no, that doesn’t tell us that Jesus, being incapable of Evil is therefore somehow limited.

YOU should be askin your friend? the questions. Roll reversal
there imo
