Hello!
I need help and advice…I’m the worship/Music leader for our contemporary mass…
In the past, I’ve used LifeTeen, but our Parish no longer uses it. I’ve tried using Today’s Liturgy from OCP, although it is a great resource, it doesn’t help in a contemporary setting.
I am looking for any online resources or anything else to help in weekly song choices for mass.

Thanks!

Carlos

I think first I will need to have explained to me what a “Contemporary Mass” is.

He probably meant contemporary choices for songs at Mass. An OF Mass that likely focuses on teens. Not a “Contemporary Mass”…even thought that probably is a nicer term that what I’ve heard the Mass in OF referred to from some radical traditionalists on CAF.

A contemporary Mass usually includes more modern (contemporary) music instead of the traditional hymns. The instruments used might also be more modern such as guitar, piano, etc.

That’s odd.
Anything recommended in LifeTeen (Catholic Youth Minsitry.com) is in available for anyone to play if you have a license.
As in LicenSing. licensingonline.org/en-us
And, OCP has Spirit and Song Contemporary songs.
Liturgy Today is not for a Contemporary Mass.
You have the resources, you’re just not looking in the right places.
I would get the accompaniment resource fro Spirit and Song.
Do you print out worship aids? How does the congregation know the lyrics to what you use?

Why? Such Masses are contrary to Vatican II.

looking for planning guide/song suggestions for each week…
the LifeTeen resource was VERY helpful in choosing contemporary songs - our license ran out and I don’t have that anymore…just looking to see if anyone has the same type of resource available online…

Just buy one copy of Spirit and Song.
The songs are listed by use and liturgical season in the back. It’s like $8.

we have Spirit and Song 1 and 2 and tons and tons of songs…it’s just that LifeTeen’s planning guide was so helpful in choosing the right songs according to the readings in a contemporary/youth setting…

Do you still have the planning guides from previous years? The one from 2012 should be helpful for most Sundays this year. Dates won’t match but the numbered Sundays should for the most part.

[edited] The RCC that I attend has a small choir with a piano, sometimes a guitar, and sometimes other instruments.

A RCC that I attended a long time ago also had a full band on Easter Sunday. A guitarist, drummer, etc.

Right.
Also, I never relied on those guides…I knew all the lyrics and could readily match the lyrics to the readings.
If you have any of the Liturgy guides from previous years they would work, although not with the newest song, but that’s fine. People like to same the same thing all the time.
