Continuing - Mary's Part in the Latter days

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We are still in "Chapter 1- Necessity of Devotion to Mary, in reading St. Louis de Montfort’s spiritual classic, True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, and the section concerning Mary’s Part in the Latter days. We are in the “Latter” days now – it may not be the very last of the latter days, right now, but since Christ came, we have begun to look forward to His final coming and we continue to be in those latter days. St. Louis was writing prophetically, as many holy men and women writers have written before him, and we do well to read carefully and prayerfully the words of wisdom God gave to His saints.
  1. It is chiefly in reference to these last wicked persecutions of the devil, daily increasing until the advent of the reign of anti- Christ, that we should understand that first and well-known prophecy and curse of God uttered against the serpent in the garden of paradise. It is opportune to explain it here for the glory of the Blessed Virgin, the salvation of her children and the confusion of the devil. “I will place enmities between you and the woman, between your race and her race; she will crush your head and you will lie in wait for her heel” (Gen. 3:15).
  2. God has established only one enmity - but it is an irreconcilable one - which will last and even go on increasing to the end of time. That enmity is between Mary, his worthy Mother, and the devil, between the children and the servants of the Blessed Virgin and the children and followers of Lucifer.
Thus the most fearful enemy that God has set up against the devil is Mary, his holy Mother. From the time of the earthly paradise, although she existed then only in his mind, he gave her such a hatred for his accursed enemy, such ingenuity in exposing the wickedness of the ancient serpent and such power to defeat, overthrow and crush this proud rebel, that Satan fears her not only more than angels and men but in a certain sense more than God himself. This does not mean that the anger, hatred and power of God are not infinitely greater than the Blessed Virgin’s, since her attributes are limited. It simply means that Satan, being so proud, suffers infinitely more in being vanquished and punished by a lowly and humble servant of God, for her humility humiliates him more than the power of God. Moreover, God has given Mary such great power over the evil spirits that, as they have often been forced unwillingly to admit through the lips of possessed persons, they fear one of her pleadings for a soul more than the prayers of all the saints, and one of her threats more than all their other torments.

I would not want to defend the statement “Satan fears Mary . . . more than God himself” to those who claim - pointing to statements like this - that Catholics raise Mary to the level of, and even above, God.
 
The reason Satan fears Mary so much is that Mary, a mere creature below the angels in stature, has more grace than the evil one ever had. The evil one cannot stand that.

As I pondered those words I also considered how other saints, like little St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Theresa of Avila and St. Padre Pio did not fear the devil because their humility learned from Jesus and Mary, shamed the evil one too. The devil is a liar and a coward, who fears what God has done in Mary and can do in us, when we, by God’s Grace, are humble and obedient as Mary shows us.

Also St. Louis alludes to our own battles against the evil one when he wrote:
That enmity is between Mary, his worthy Mother, and the devil, between the children and the servants of the Blessed Virgin and the children and followers of Lucifer.

Mary is our Mother given to us by Jesus from His Cross because He knew we would need to see in her – a humble human person – the wonderful things God can do! Many of us squander our baptismal graces but the saints have all been obedient to Jesus, and have followed Him as Mary did.

We do well to be devoted to the Mother God gave us! Thanks again, dear Dorothy.

Thank you for your response Maria! I remember hearing of that about our Blessed Mother some time ago, and it made much sense.
 
The blessed Virgin was there at the beginning; way before the earth was even created. So i dont know why you assume that She only existed in Gods mind at the time of Eden
God made the Virgin with 1000 times more care, attention to detail and effort than all the care and effort it took to make the universe, humans etc…
St. Louis de Montfort wrote that when someone prays to the Virgin, it atually attracts the attention of God, because He wants to know why she is diverting some of her attention to people and not all of it to Him. Such is His unfathomable love and desire for the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God
To say She has anger and hatred is just silly
Where on earth do you come up with that?
Satan fears the Virgin more than God???
 
Also God doesnt allow the devil to have any access whatsoever to the Virgin Mary

To love goodness means to automatically hate wickedness.
Gen.3.15 God said to the serpent " I will put enmity between you and the woman "
