I used this loosely paraphrased quote of JPII in another post and had a few of me ask for the source and I couldn’t find it at that time.
Well, rereading a lot about the Church teachings on NFP I came across many gems, and of course this wonderful JPII quote -
"Contraception is to be judged so profoundly unlawful as never to be, for any reason, justified. To think or to say the contrary is equal to maintaining that in human life, situations may arise in which it is lawful not to recognize God as God"
Taken from L’Oservatore Romano, p.7 October 10, 1983-
in Jason Evert’s book: Pure Intimacy he quotes JPII, in a US address saying that “Contracpetion is not a subject of debate for theologians”
Jason Evert also makes a good case for why this teaching is a Magesterial, therefore infallibale, teaching even if not pronounce ex-cathedra.
Here is one great article by fr. frank Pavone that incorporates the Oct. 10th quote: priestsforlife.org/articles/famplandil.html
So…perhaps, one day, we can dream, that ALL Catholics will be of one mind, on this one HUGE topic, regarding sexuality and marriage.
And please, note the second quote, no debate please
