Well it maybe against the catholic doctrine , but it’s the only sensible thing to do.
Also astenince will work for awhile then your spouse will go elsewhere gauranteed.
That’s what humans do.

I am truly sorry that you have such a jaded view of humanity. All I can say is that if I thought as you do I would no longer be a Catholic, I could never ascribe to a church which claimed to be infallibly led by God if I was convinced that its teachings were false. For me its all or nothing, the height of love and respect for other or throw it all out, there is no in between. It is not an easy task, but it is so true, and beautiful, such an excellent standard to live by I will not give up in trying to attain it in my life. I will keep you in my prayers, I truly don’t know what I would do if I did not recognize the immense and inherent goodness in makind and the universe around us. And no, I am not just being naive, I have also seen my share of suffering, and am well aware that I will only see and endure more in the coming years, I am well aware of the horrors that mankind is capable of, but that does not, and cannot, change the inherent goodness in creation around us.
