I’m not sure where to put this post, but it has to do with sin somewhat so i put it here. Ok here it is:

If i sin and then pray to God for forgiveness, do i have to do some kind of fast? Like if i have a huge bowl of ice cream and a soda once i’m done praying, is that going to affect whether or not He will forgive me? Thanks.

You can fast.
Its best to fast outside of required fasting times to do so with spiritual direction.

Must you fast in this senario? I dont think so unless you left something out here.

If it was not part of your penance in confession I am assuming?

If you are ready to have a heart attack or suffer health risks from enjoying the items you note in your OP then I would not suggest you tempt fate or disregard your health concerns.

Other than that, I dont see how its gonna make your contrition any less valid.

Can you?

Hi BB,

May I ask how old you are? I know you are a minor through your other threads.

God will always forgive, if anything He would love to be there with you helping you eat that yummy ice cream.

I know you can’t get to Confession as easy as you would like due to your parents, but God knows all this, and He knows you are truly sorry for all you sins.

Do not stress too much. There is a thing called scrupolisty (yikes, how is it spelled ) which is actually worrying too much about not sinning that it becomes obsessive and it is wrong to do.

Don’t fall into that trap.

You sound like you are really trying to learn Catholicism despite your home life.

Keep asking questions, and get to Confession when you can. Keep praying to God, He understands all you do.

I saw in another thread that you wanted a St Anthony of Padua medal. My Parish is St Anthony’s, after that Saint.
I have a statue of him here on my book shelf.

Maybe download a picture of him and place on your desktop on your computer, cheaper than getting your parents to buy you a medal.

All the best

I just caught Kellie’s post, and now I think I see what is going on here better.

Dont feel guilty that you are in a circumstance that seems like its preventing you from being a Catholic! 🙂

No, no and again, please no. You are doing the best you can in your circumstances and you will likely be learning the virtue of patience, that many Saints have displayed to us and who knows? You may be the next one!

Keep climbing each step slowly, and when you do you will see the top better.

Be good.

Hang in there!

Thanks for the encouragment, it’s nice to have the forums and have other Catholic to talk to. And i’m 15.

For the question i meant if you were unable to go to confession at the time, and you were just praying for forgiveness in the meantime.

If you are unable but not unwilling and you constantly make an effort to do so yet can not for a good reason then you dont have to worry. Worry when you are not making a genuine effort.

Wait till you see the thread on the horrors of my sins I am wondering where to post on these forums, cause its a family thing but its a sin thing so I dont know where to post it.

I doubt you have that much on your plate now.
