I realize this, and while I’m not a fan of Milo from Breitbart (won’t even try to spell his surname) it is interesting how left-wingers apparently don’t count him as a “real gay” due to his pro-life stance.
It really is amazing. I saw an interview with Milo last night on Tucker Carlson Tonight and it’s crazy how the left will seek to destroy any right-wing woman, African American, homosexual, etc who is an effective communicator.

According to Milo, they hate him so much because he’s actually effective at getting college age kids to consider conservative & libertarian thought.

Look, what his Grace Bishop Barron likely meant to say is that in the current climate efforts to reverse same sex “marriage” laws will likely fail and that pushing it at this point in time would distract from more important issues where headway can be made (such as the pro-life cause).

Fight the battles you can win.

Stacey Dash was treated in a similarly disgusting way by the leftist media.

As an FYI - I actually believe Trump does care about abortion. Reason: Trump talks about a “friend” who wanted his wife to have an abortion. He goes on to say that he knows this kid and that he can’t imagine the world with out him (I’m paraphrasing).

Well, I do t believe there was a “friend.” I believe he may have actually been talking about himself in regards to Barron Trump.

I think Trump became Pro Life because he realized what a mistake it would have been to abort his own child and then realized how terrible it truly is.

The reason I mention this is because the Abortion issue and SSM issue are not directly linked. There are even gay groups who are pro-life, and more growing now that they realized that for every aborted baby, there is one less child to adopt.

While these issues are related for Catholics (legalization of sin) they are not remotely related for secularists, non-Christians, and athiests.

In order to win the world for Christ, we have to do it the same way the early Christians did against the Roman Empire - through our example. Only by truly living according to the field and in accordance with Catholic teaching, will we be able to open minds and soften hearts.

God Bless
Has anyone ever fact-checked this story from Trump, or are we supposed to take it at face value? Has this “friend” of Trump, the one who got him to be anti-abortion, ever been identified?

Why would anyone intrude on people’s privacy like that?

It’s not anything anyone would be able to fact check unless the person said “hello everyone, it was me”

And if Trump’s “friend” is actually himself, he’s never going to publicly say that because he’s not going to want Barron to know he originally wasn’t wanted.

The Church should divorce itself from any state definition or authority with marriage.
Giving a government power over a sacrament is insane!

I disagree with your first sentence, but agree with your second. This is not about giving the government “control” over the institution of marriage. Rather, it is about having the government recognize that marriage is a divine institution between a man and a woman.

Would you say that when government makes murder illegal, it is being given “power over human life”? Of course not! Government is merely recognizing murder as evil, and inflicting consequences on those who murder others.

Same deal with marriage: “marriage” between homosexuals is against the natural and divine law, and it is not outside the purview of government to make it illegal.

The church has married itself to the state with this sacrament. She demands a certificate of the state to investigate validity of a sacrament and conforms to state law. This was and has been a mistake. now that the state has changed the very nature of the institution the Church should not be part of it. Actually that should have been done with the start if no fault divorce

Post #16 in part:

Yes, well said!

I found this quote from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in another forum member’s signature:

“In those situations where homosexual unions have been legally recognized or have been given the legal status and rights belonging to marriage, clear and emphatic opposition is a duty. One must refrain from any kind of formal cooperation in the enactment or application of such gravely unjust laws and, as far as possible, from material cooperation on the level of their application. In this area, everyone can exercise the right to conscientious objection."

Here’s a link to the full document:

The paragraph above is under section II:
II. POSITIONS ON THE PROBLEM OF HOMOSEXUAL UNIONS

So, in light of a Bishop’s position of being the shepherd for his people, I find Bishop Barron’s commentary rather confusing. One can stand up forcefully and adamantly for the truths of the faith without being mean or disparaging to those who do not agree with it, or who live in serious sin.

I like a lot of what B. Barron writes. A regular article of his appears in our Catholic Herald.

As for Trump being pro-life, I take him at his word. Many ppl who are pro-choice (even if it’s only for hard cases like incest) perhaps have not really taken the time to consider some aspects of the action.

Peace,
Mimi

As someone who use to be highly in favor of same-sex mirage, one thing that has helped me not go back to my old thinking was that the “right” to marry was always a possibility to same-sex people before Obergefell vs Hodges. How? One man, one woman.

If the argument goes that same-sex people weren’t allowed to get married, once you look at that narrative critically, it completely falls apart: last week my city’s newspaper published in their Lifestyle section a story of two people, one male and one female, divorcing their spouse of the opposite sex (from which they conceived children), in order to enter a same-sex relationship. The closeted spouse got married - to the opposite sex.

If I can slowly pry myself away from my once fervent support of same-sex mirage others can too.

And if there’s one thing you need to know about Rubin, as nice of a guy he is, his smile disappears once you say you aren’t in favor of same-sex mirage. It’s as if you just said you outed him and his partner to the modern day Nazis and they’ll be hopping on a train to Auschwitz.
