We did not make a big deal out of it. We gave verbal invites to close family and friends. My family is far-flung, and my parents are dead, so his Mom stood up for me, and his great-aunt Betty stood up for him. We had it on our 11th anniversary. After the daily Mass, our friends stayed for the ceremony. We all dressed up, but nobody bought or rented anything special.
But we are not formal, big-event people. We did it on our anniversary because it was close to the day my teenage mistake was declared null, so that made it more special. We figured, we waited two years, what’s a couple more weeks?
