Conversion and the "Tiber"

I keep reading references to crossing the Tiber - I’m guessing that’s a river? What’s the connection to conversion? Thanks!

“Crossing the Tiber” means converting to Catholicism. In other words, you need to cross that river to get to Rome.
 
Thanks!!! I didn’t know it was a river near Rome:blush: . That’s a cool metaphor! (Umm, I think that’s what it’s called!)
 
The Tiber River runs along the western side of Rome, and if you want to go from the city of Rome to The Vatican, you have to literally cross a bridge over the river to get there. 👍
