Care to enlighten me?🤷
You must have heard ‘whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery with her’? (Luke 16:18 if you need chapter and verse).

Annulment is not the same as divorce. Divorce dissolves a valid, existing marriage. Annulment is a declaration that there actually never was a valid marriage. For example, Britney Spears annulled her two-day ‘marriage’, to which she and the groom couldn’t possibly have properly consented because they were both completely trashed on drugs and/or alcohol when they took their vows.

Now God is the God of all marriages, not just Christian ones. He joined Adam and Eve as man and wife before the Christian faith existed, or indeed the Jewish, as we know them.

For this reason the church takes all marriage quite seriously, as it should, no matter who contracts it or how. And it presumes all marriages, Catholic or not, are valid until shown to be otherwise, as a matter of prudence.

So it will not be imprudent enough to allow anyone who has divorced to remarry without looking at the circumstances of that marriage, since it respects marriage too greatly to interfere with any valid marriage, however contracted

Hope this helps.

Now depending on the circumstances, an annulment can be extremely simple to obtain and not require a great deal of information from either of you. Not knowing the circumstances, I do not know whether this would be so in your case.

Sometimes it is not. Lots of things about the Catholic faith, or indeed any other, are very difficult. God does not promise any of us an easy time on earth, on the contrary He practically guarantees that families will be divided, that people will hate us for His sake, and that we need to be prepared to detach even from our nearest and dearest if required.

So what would be required of me or my wife if we need to get a annulment of my wife’s first marriage? still very confusing for me.

You need to speak with your diocese tribunal. The priest you are familiar in dealing with can help you. But basically you present a case to the tribunal and it reviews it and makes a determination based on canon law. There are forms to sign.

All this because i am interested in the Catholic Church not my wife… alot to think about i will pray on this.

Thank you.

I understand your delemma and ultimately its between you and God. However, I would like to encourage you to continue in seeking out the Catholic faith. I remember when I realized that the Eucharist really was the real presence of Jesus Christ and that the Catholic Church was the Church Jesus Christ established. My wife and I were baptist at that time and as I became more catholic in my thinking and actions she became incensed and upset that I would leave the baptist faith. The Priest I was counciling with was very frightened that my decision to return to the Catholic Faith would tear my family apart. But with the grace of God and many prayers my wife came to an understanding and faith in the Catholic Church. That Easter my whole family came into the faith together. I believe God’s grace can soften your wifes heart.

I don’t know how “Jewish” your wife is and how practicing she is but it might be helpful to read books about Jesus and a Jewish perspective of Jesus. One thing I didn’t know about that my wife was doing what when I read a book or an article about the Catholic faith, she came behind me and picked up those books an now she’s an on fire Catholic boldly proclaiming the faith. It might not work that way with you but it might help out. I think its good that you love your wife alot.

Here is a suggested book for reading. I haven’t read it myself but its the kind of thing I’m talking about. I’ve read other material unfortunately they aren’t catholic but this one I think is. "Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist: Unlocking the Secrets of the Last Supper " by Brant Pitre. Scott Hahn writes the preface. I plan on getting this book myself.

An awesome book. I literally could not put it down. Gave a copy of it to my priest as a present.

Whether you become Catholic or not, the issue is regarding divorce and remarriage. The rules, regarding that, apply to everyone, not just Catholics.
