Hello all; my question is; that i`v looked up to see where the local orthodox church in my area is and have thought about going,i wont bore you with my reasons, for you probably know what they are anyway, and so i was wondering what i might have to undergo before i could receive holy communion there.

So if there is anyone who could help out, would be most grateful.

Thanks again…

I’m not in a position to help with these issues, but will say a prayer for you Mark.

🙂

Actually, Chrismation is just a Confirmation - I’d say the most significant physical aspect of it would be annointing with oil. Smells good 🙂

There is also the ‘spitting at the Devil’ part of the ceremony, which I liked 😃 This is really a subject for an Orthodox board though. Perhaps some people are interested in the details for academic reasons.

Depending upon the situation some Catholics are accepted via confession and communion which is how the bishop decided to receive me (perhaps because I was a practicing Byzantine Catholic, but I don’t really know why).

I asked to be Chrismated along with the other converts, and so I was.

When I converted I spent over a year discerning, so I voluntarily refrained from presenting myself for communion or even confession. When I was accepted as a catechuman by the Orthodox I spent about another year without it, the period was difficult, but I looked forward to the lessons and I made good friends.

Oh yes. 🙂

There is no perfect church.

The old adage says “if you find the perfect church, by all means join it! … then it won’t be” 😃

I understand Jharek, but i have been thinking a long time over this.

I cannot lie to the catholic doctrine to promise the holy father is infallible,he is a sinner, just like Paul,
That our mother had no children after our lord and that catholics want to see a miracle before someone is canonized and especially when Jesu spoke of such a perverse generation that expected such, and none would be given as you know he said, and i believe also that the holy spirit however mystical makes surly no arbitrary decisions.

Plus the way that this forum has treated me with obvious exceptions has established in me a need to escape such telemetry disfigurement.

You seem to be confusing *infallibility *and impeccability. *Infallibility *doesn’t assert that the popes haven’t sinned. They’re human, just like you and me, and in fact many have sinned… EDIT: ALL of them have sinned… some quite scandalously.
That our mother had no children after our lord
The Orthodox believe that Our Lady was perpetually a virgin as well… if you want a church that teaches otherwise, you’re going to end up in a Protestant denomination…

I thankyou and the post above…

But as oddly as it may sound i will always,if i go ahead with this conversion be so respectful to the catholic tradition, for ever more, because i do know i am going to heaven( sorry if that sounds very protestant).

I was need i explain baptised in an evangelical church, confirmed in an anglican church and then confirmed in the catholic church.

But the issue`s that i have stated even if it is only on the one account that i am correct,i cannot lie to the catholic father/fathers,or my beloved brothers and sisters.

I agree.

A good heart to heart discussion with a priest is called for, maybe several. Some people just need to discern a move like this a long time for their own good.

Then there is the learning curve … we are all students, actually lifelong students.

Thanks to all they above posts;

My acumen was slightly impaired due to an aberration or pedantic lack, due to my non polymath reliability.

So thanks again to the esoteric posts.

My thought are with you and bid you a fare journey…

What many forget is that Jesus founded His church for the sinners. His church is full of sinners, not perfectionist!

Would you mind translating your second sentence, please? I consider myself fairly well educated, but I have not a clue, what you are trying to say.

Generally German…
But i am English

I get a little bored with the norm of grammatical correctness sometimes, so as irksome as it is to some, and i would also add i can write with more fluidity also.I try where appropriate and where no one could take offence, have fun with the language, I mean all said and done it is just English babel and English pomp posterity,no offence also meant.

But i will take on board what you seem to be requesting.

Sorry if my writing style parody has brought anger or annoyance.

I have in my short time hear on CAF realised that at least for me,my want is to post less if at all.

I bid you fare journey…

I was an English translator, too the German language, with two German children, when i lived in Germany.

In answer to your question, i was born in England, and my English “can” be very good to say the least.

I hate narcissism so i tend to down play…
