My husband and I are starting RCIA this fall but I just had a thought pop in my head. We have 2 daughter’s that were both baptized in the Methodist church, will we have to choose godparents for them? Will they be Catholic just because we are or will they have to do something specific? They’re 6 and 2 if that makes a difference and the oldest attends school at the parish. I’m just thinking of how it will affect them also. Thanks!

Contact your Priest as to your children. They will not automatically become Catholic when you make your profession of faith. Blessing on your journey and welcome!

No.

When they are confirmed they will choose a confirmation sponsor.

It does make a difference. You can bring them into the Church via profession of faith on your part since they are under the age of reason. You need to discuss it with the pastor and make sure this is properly recorded in the sacramental records.
