I’ve been thinking about this recently…
I am a covert who came in as an adult last year.
My first and middle names are both Old Testament women who are saints in the Eastern church, but fall I that weird “Moses is in heaven and a saint but he’s not a patron of anything and doesn’t have a feast day” category.
When I was received into the church, we weren’t given the option to have a confirmation saint.
Can I just pick a patron saint since I missed all the official channels?
And does anyone know why I didn’t get a confirmation saint? I asked the pastor, and he just told me that they didn’t give adult converts a patron… But that’s not church wide, as I’ve met dozens of converts who got one… 🤔

Just pick your own patron saint. In many countries there is no such a thing as a Confirmation Saint (it is more of a local tradition than a canonical requirement). I am a cradle Catholic and heard about this ‘Confirmation Saint’ tradition only after I moved to US!!!

My RCIA class did not get to choose a Confirmation Saint either, and we were all pretty bummed. So what we did, was ask our RCIA leaders to choose Confirmation Saints for us, instead. They went home and prayed about it, and then gave us each a saint! So, while it wasn’t ‘official,’ we all adopted the saints given to us. (Mine was St. Elizabeth Ann Seton) So maybe you can do something like that! But no matter what, you are free to choose any saint that you wish!

And then if you’re a total goob, like me, you can write your “new” confirmation name in the front of your Bible. Then it feels more official, lol!

My RCIA class didn’t pick confirmation saints in an organized fashion but I picked one anyway and had my priest use the name when I was confirmed. But I have several saints who I consider patrons these days as a lot has changed in my life in the last 10 years. So you can absolutely pick a patron!

I also know a lot of Catholics who will pick a saint for the year or for a certain time frame to get to know and pray with. There’s no hard and fast rule here. 😊

thanks for all the great responses…
I already have several saints that I look upon as patrons… Especially Gemma (no surprise) but I didn’t know if you could just decide to make someone your patron… Everyone else I know got several through official channels, so I wasn’t certain how it all worked.
I shall now go pick a whole army of patrons…
