I am beginning my journey on converting to the true Catholic faith. My parents are not Catholics, they are Hindus. I have attempted to tell them but my sheer fear has prevented me from doing so. Please help.
God bless.

Why do you need to tell them? I’m just curious.

fwiw right from the beginning those who believed the Gospel believed first and foremost that the Resurrection of Christ really happened, and that is a justification for believing in Christ even to this day I think. Certainly to believe in Christ’s Resurrection and yet somehow not be Christian is unheard of, so perhaps mention that if pressed?

But we are very happy to have you. Cheers.

I shared my journey with my family a few weeks in, and I wish I had waited a few more months. I tend to allow others’ opinions to sway me too much. This journey is about your relationship between you and God, which is the most important relationship any of us can have. If I had been more aware of this at the beginning I would have been standing on firmer ground when I told my family.

I agree, gove it time… Let Christ fill you The Hoy Spirit so you know when and how to help your parents…God will guide you.

Congradulation on acceting Jesus as your Saviour…welcome

‘Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division; for henceforth in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three; they will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against her mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.’ - Luke 12: 51-53

God is first. Family second. Do not fear to follow the true path.

Do you still live at home?

Congrats on your journey, I am so happy for you! I am just beginning my journey too and my parents are not Catholics. I told me parents almost a year ago, I should have waited. It is important to remember, that God comes first. I learned that the hard way. Don’t let others try to sway your opinions. Just try to be kind and sensitive to your parents feelings. May God bless you.

Welcome Hashanah…an infinite warm welcomes to you. Converting to the Catholic faith is a gift of grace, faith and knowing the call of Jesus to you, to your heart…“Come, follow me.” I have known people who have been disowned by their families, but never abandoned by God. We will all pray for you. Our blessed Mother will help you, protect you and maybe with your prayers, in time, your family will accept your decision. Be not afraid. Prayers for you. Please find people to support your decision. We are a family of God and may you embrace the grace each second of your journey to Christ and His Church.

This my sound harsh, but it’s the best and most true answer:

Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. 35 For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; 36 and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ 37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it."

I am asking St Elizabeth Anne Seaton, the patron of converts to pray for you and your family.
