Hi all,
I am thinking about converting from my current church (Church of Scotland) to the Catholic Church.
However, I am a teenager and my parents are not really in favour of me joining the Catholic Church.
Would it be sinful to disobey them and join?

Wow, I don’t know. Hmmmmmmm seems like you should honor your father and mother until you are grown. You will appreciate in the future there was happiness in your home and not strife over this issue.

You can pray and learn about the Church and make y our decision once you are an adult.

I wanted to convert in 1990, me and my baby, but my husband was opposed so we went to protestant church during that time. Then as an adult (son is 18) he stopped going to church, hub stopped going so I started going to Mass. Now son and husband go to Mass with me.

Pray about this situation, be loving and honorable with your parents, and we will pray for you also.

Also, put your prayer need on this on the prayer intention thread also.

Dear Robert,

If you wish, you could contact a priest in a Catholic parish near you and ask his advice. If you explain your situation to him, he may be able to advise you when you can justly seek to join the Church. If you are still a minor you may need to wait, but in the end you have the right to follow your conscience and the call that God makes to you.

I’ll keep you in my prayers.

God bless you,
Trishie 🙂

Nope! Pray for your parents, God will order all things so that you can enter His Church. Trust in Him.
