Converts: how long did it take you to really become Catholic?

After I was received to the Church it took me another 15 years to become a ‘real’ Catholic. Meaning: no cafeteria, true commitment, feeling at home with teachings and practices. Maybe I’m a slow learner :confused:

How about you?
 
I’d say about 2 years. I’m 3 years into my conversion, and the last year or two, I’ve just grown so much in my faith. I think the first year for me, I still didn’t understand a lot, but as of lately I’ve been doing lots of research, and have had a huge commitment to all the teachings of the Church.

I’ve never been happier.
 
Is this something like ARod becoming a “real” Yankee?

Anyways, here’s my answer, after much thought and reading (Thanks to Thomas Merton, Fr. Robert Barron, Thérèse of Lisieux, John Paul II and Ralph Martin) :

everyone has a different journey…
it took me around 1 1/2 - 2 years to officially become Catholic, but I felt Catholic ‘in my heart’ before I was received at the Easter Vigil. Sometimes it takes months, sometimes years… God bless
 
It took me 13 years to really become Catholic and have a real relationship with Jesus Christ…
