Converts/Reverts: what was the date?

Yesterday marked the two year “anniversary” of my reversion. I wasn’t able to make it to Mass last year, which was my one year “anniversary”, but I made it last night. I remember the date specifically only because of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Does anyone else remember the day of their conversion or reversion? For converts- not the day you were Confirmed, but the day you made the decision to convert.

Revert. For some the answer to your question is rather circuitous.

Revert: to return to a previous state, practice, etc.

I never voluntarily left, but was removed. Reverting was impossible for the church had changed and no one was willing to assist. So I have several ‘dates’ I can refer to as ones I made the decision to revert. They go back to 1969.

31 May 2009. I was baptized, receive my first Eucharist, and was confirmed. I was 21 years old at the time. I probably decided before this, but the day I decided to go to Mass, was actually for the first Sunday of Advent, although it was Saturday evening. Check what the first Sunday of Advent was in 2008.

I was received into the Catholic church July 15, 2008. I made the decision in March or April 2008
to contact a local Catholic parish. I met with the RCIA director once a week and she gave me reading material and we would discuss it the following week. I believe we met 8
or 9 weeks. I also had to give my first confession before being received.
I had been contemplating conversion since the mid-90’s and began studying about the
Catholic faith back then and it only intensified. So it was a 10-12 year process for me to
seriously pursue conversion.

I returned to the Church after a 10-year absence on June 18, 2006, the Feast of Corpus Christi that year.

My reversion was a gradual process. I couldn’t possibly single out a unique date.

There was one watershed moment, but I don’t remember its exact date.
