I’m curious to see where converts to the Catholic faith come from spiritually. I converted just over two years ago, and was a Methodist.

I wasn’t raised particularly religious. Dad was a non-practicing Lutheran, but we oddly went to Mass when I was little. My mom said that was because her paternal grandmother was Catholic (adult convert) and she went to church with her. I was what I would call a “secular Buddhist”, I wasn’t really practicing, I just tried to put those beliefs in my lifestyle. I became a Catholic Christian, officially, on 31 May 2009.

I was raised Lutheran. Wandered for a long time, and converted to Catholicism after reading the Catechism. I was confirmed at the 2013 Easter Vigil.

Lutheran, Methodist, unchurched heathen during college, got married, Lutheran, Episcopal, then 12 years ago, home to Rome.

It was 12 years for me also as of July 15th, 2020.

The Holy Spirit thumped me on the head one Sunday. Someday I will relate the story again.

@StudentMI, @EricF, @humbleseeker, those all sound good to me.

I came from nowhere.

Seriously, when I converted at age 40, I had no concrete belief system.

I was baptised Catholic as an infant but raised raised atheist. I dabbled in a little bit of new age/pseudo buddhist stuff in my teens before con/re-verting to Catholicism.

Nothing but the Holy Spirit convinced me that Christianity was true. I don’t think anything in this world except God Himself would have convinced me. However once I believed in Christianity it was history and logic that led me to the Catholic Church. And I’ll admit beauty. Beauty (in music, art, doctrine, liturgy, everything) is a very effective tool for evangelisation haha.

I would like to hear your conversion Story one day
Here’s a little bit of it.

The day I knew I had to be Catholic Spirituality
The Great Feast of Pentecost I figure today, being Pentecost would be a good day to tell you all about my ‘aha’ moment, or the day I knew I had to be Catholic. I was at a bird festival in Bisbee, a small artsy, mining community in southern Arizona, attempting to sell my art. During the field trips and presentations things would get kind of quiet so I had an opportunity to read a book on Catholicism that a friend had loaned me. Although this book has subsequently been criticized as not being…
