I don’t think so. A quick search to Google took me to Wikipedia, which says that the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria is basically it’s own church, not in communion with Rome. That said, there is a Coptic Catholic Church that is in communion with Rome.

I hope that made sense.

i read the wiki article and couldn’t make heads or tails of it

i have a coptic orthodox parish near me and i was wondering whether i could attend mass there .

This should answer your question:
The Consecration of the Eucharist during the divine liturgy of both the Eastern Catholic churches and the Eastern Orthodox churches is valid. A Catholic of the Roman rite of the Church can attend an Eastern Catholic divine liturgy and receive Communion during that liturgy without problem, and the Eastern Catholic divine liturgy would fulfill the Sunday/holy day obligation. Although Catholics can occasionally attend Eastern Orthodox liturgies as a guest, those liturgies do not fulfill the Sunday/holy day obligation to attend Mass. Catholics ordinarily should not receive Communion at an Eastern Orthodox divine liturgy, though there are circumstances in which this is permitted.
If you have trouble discerning whether a particular Eastern church in your community is an Eastern Catholic or an Eastern Orthodox church, call your local diocese and ask.

thanks for that info. i wanted to bring my family to the coptic orthodox mass to somehow show solidarity with the horrendous suffering the eastern christians are presently undergoing

but if my presence at a coptic orthodox mass is not appropriate i’ll’ve’d to find a different way

According to that post that I quoted, there is nothing wrong with attending a liturgy of an Orthodox Church so long as you fulfill your Sunday Obligation at a church in communion with Rome and do not take communion at the Orthodox church.

They’re Oriental Orthodox, like the Tewahedo Church of Ethiopia or the Armenian Church. They’re not in communion with Rome. But their Sacraments are nevertheless valid (which doesn’t mean Catholics should go to them preferably, only specific circumstances, assuming Coptic bishops and priests are OK with it).

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

If, say, an Episcopalian came to a Roman Catholic mass, I wouldn’t mind him/her being there, assuming that he/she didn’t try to receive communion. (Or if he/she politely requested communion, as opposed to trying to receive by posing as a Roman Catholic, or saying something like “Well we’re all the same, so you should give me communion regardless of what you think.”)

Likewise I would argue that there isn’t anything wrong with you attending a Coptic Orthodox liturgy.

well i drove through the parking lot at the conclusion of the coptic orthodox mass

i didn’t have the strength of character to actually attend; maybe in the future i will

something is pulling me

i’ll just say that i wish the Holy Church was in union

The Coptic Orthodox is an Oriental Orthodox Church, not Eastern Orthodox… But the same principle would apply.
An aside, but friendly Coptic Orthodox - Syro Malabar Catholic relations, the Coptic Church in Toronto allowed use of their beautiful Temple for the ordination and installation of the new Exarch for Canadian Syro Malabar Catholics, His Grace Mar Joseph Kalluvelil: youtube.com/watch?v=umxsIgO9WpE

That was a lovely gesture. Will the exarch be building a cathedral in Toronto eventually ?

"In the Russian language (similar to other East Slavic languages) a general-purpose word for “church” is tserkov (церковь). When spoken in an exalted sense, the term khram (Храм), “temple”, is used to refer to the church building as a Temple of God Khram Bozhy (Храм Божий). The words “church” and “temple”, in this case are interchangeable; however, the term “church” (Greek: εκκλησία) is far more common in English. The term “temple” (Greek: ναός) is also commonly applied to larger churches. Some famous churches which are occasionally referred to as temples include Hagia Sophia, Saint Basil’s Cathedral, Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Temple of Saint Sava.

Some churches have a special status and referred to as sobor (or soborny khram, cоборный храм), from the Old Russian word for “gathering” (see sobor for other meanings). In Greek, diocesan sees are referred to as καθεδρικός ναός. In Russian, a cathedral is a “sobor” (Russian: кафедральный собор, kafedralny sobor). The seat of the Patriarch is called a “patriarchal sobor” (Патриарший собор, Patriarshiy sobor) The main church of a monastery may also be called a “sobor”. If a bishop builds a new sobor for his cathedra, the old church retains its status of a sobor. The status of sobor may be assigned only by the Patriarch.

The major church in a monastery is called a catholicon, and may be reserved for major services, lesser services being celebrated in other churches in the monastery.

A church independent of local eparchy is called “stauropegial sobor” (Greek stauropegia means “mounting of the cross”). For example, patriarchal sobors are stauropigial ones.

Another kind of extra-eparchial churches are house churches, which belong to households."
