Hey everyone!!

Is copying and saving pictures from websites (facebook, google, etc.) a mortal sin. What if i dont distribute the pictures except print them off for my own personal use? i have a TON of pcitures from facebook, especially religious ones, my signature picture, i think came from there, Do i have to get rid of the pictures and have i sinned? as if i have, i wont know until i am told!!

It pretty much depends on whether the picture is under copyright. A photo of a Renaissance painting is public domain.

Images that remain under copyright (because the artist is still living or has only recently deceased) should not be used without the artist’s permission except for valid “fair use” purposes (e.g. writing an article or paper about the artist or genre). It is not fair use to use it as a signature (this is akin to producing stationery - even if you don’t sell it, you still benefit without compensating the artist).

I have this philosophy: if someone wants to keep something private, just keep it out of Internet. Once you go there, it is a free for all…
I refuse to put morals into simple perusing information.
You mentioned Google. One of Goggle’s philosophy is to put everything free for everybody…
