As mentioned in my previous post, I was just enrolled in the Angelic Warfare Confraternity. I know very little about tying different types of knots, so am having trouble tying the cord around my waist. It is fairly long - almost long enough to go around my waist twice, but not quite. In other words it’s long enough to be awkward, but not long enough to be tied like a cincture.

If anyone is in the Confraternity, I would appreciate knowing what kind of knot you use to keep your cord tied. I have tried tying it the same way I tie my shoelaces, but it doesn’t stay in place - it eventually unravels. Do you use a square knot? I have found articles online about how to tie a square knot, but have found it difficult to use when tying the cord around myself.

Thanks to anyone who can assist.

I know nothing about your organization but I do know how to tie quite a few knots.

Tying a square knot is “left over right and under, right over left and under”. One thing you can do to keep it tighter around your waist when tying is “left over right and under, then under again…” the extra turn will provide additional friction helping keep it tight while you do the “right over left and under” part. It wont be a traditional square knot anymore but it should work. The below link shows in a picture of what I am trying to say. I hope this helps.

Why not email/telephone/ write the Angelic Confraternity and ask them for the correct method to tie the cord and then you know that you are wearing it correctly as the confraternity recommends 🙂

I tie mine in like a shoe lace and double knot it. If there is a lot of excess, you can cut it off and either burn it plans put the ashes in the ground, or bury it.

I have taken your suggestion, thank you.

Thanks to everyone else who replied with suggestions.
