I read that somewhere in america the penguins were running around inside.

Perhaps “Mother Earth” wants rid of us.

[You know that’s what some people will take from this. I’ve already seen people saying things like “Humanity is the true virus” etc.]

If there is one silver lining to this whole situation, it will be that we, as a global community, can maybe reevaluate our priorities regarding work, society, education, etc. Maybe, God willing, we will cut out some of the unnecessary stuff and create a simpler, healthier, and more environmentally friendly life.

I’ve been following some of the positives of this outbreak and the environmental impact over China has been very interesting for me. Here is a recent ABC article that shows a map of China over different time spans:

I believe that Our Lord Jesus Christ will eradicate this as the weather turns warmer and we can open windows.

Maybe the world should make 1 month of the year where everything stops. Plan ahead, have your supplies, and stop. Like a Sunday rest. A Sabbath.

Wouldn’t that be funny if that was the solution and we never tried it. It was in our ability all along and very simple.

Unfortunately for us in the Southern hemisphere we are just entering into the normal winter flu season. The government has announced that anyone who hasn’t had a flu jab won’t be allowed into visit our parents in Nursing Homes once they come off lockdown. And no one under the age of 18 will be allowed in at all. Going to be very hard for quite a while.

Going to be very hard for quite a while.
We are still in the flu season, and all we have are estimates from the CDC; estimates of deaths are 12,000 to as high as 30,000. This season does not seem as harsh as the (2017-2018) season when there were @ 61,000 deaths. Last year was @ 34,000 deaths.

This year looks to be a bit longer as we had a start with influenz B and then influenza A H1N1 became dominate.

You can open the windows now, unless you live so close to people that you are within 10 feet of your neighbors when they are outside too.

Personally, I wouldn’t open the windows all day, but you can open your windows.

Sounds exciting and doable. I would look forward to it. It’s a good idea 🙂

Not even Fall has arrived for us in the Southern Hemisphere and we have imported cases already.
We’ll have the experience of those who dealt or are dealing with it to learn from also, as a positive thing.
Strength and patience…

Yes the flu is still going around. Yesterday at one covid testing location in OH 104 were tested for flu - 14 were positive.

I’m wondering if someone can have flu and coronavirus at the same time.

They say environmental destruction, deforestation, hunger & going after “bush meat,” climate change, etc. are leading to more human/wild animal interactions causing more pandemics, though they don’t definitively say this COVID-19 coronavirus was caused by environmental harms. But the upshot is we can expect more and more pandemics in years to come. And it’s interesting that the pandemic has a silver lining of causing us a “sabbath” as one poster put it, thereby reducing pollution.

Some 6 years ago my husband and I went to India (his home place), stopping by Abu Dhabi to see a nephew on the way. We caught MERS (a coronavirus with 35% fatality). We thought we were going to die, like my lungs got full of fibrous something and I felt I had less than 5% breathing capacity (that’s how I visualized it). Very high fever, cough, flat on our backs, unable to do anything – not able to cook, but it was okay bec we were unable to eat. He was delirious, hallucinating. I was able with my last bit of strength go over to the computer and look up the symptoms, realizing it was the deadly MERS. But we didn’t want to go to the doctor or interact with anyone, not wanting to spread it. I thought this was the end, but felt at peace. A neighbor brought us some homeopathy meds and we think that saved us.

A couple of years later when they tested my lungs, they said they were below normal. Now that we are well past 70 yrs & with poor lungs, we’ll probably die if we get this COVID-19. So I guess we’d better get our will updated and take care of things.

The first reported case just came up today in the Rio Grande Valley, where we live, a visitor from up north. And we saw on TV the teenage spring breakers jammed together, celebrating on S. Padre Is., coming from all over the country, no doubt some bringing the virus with them… the same day the report came out that some young folks in Europe are also getting very sick from it & the first death from it in Trichy, India (where my br-in-law lives) is of a 12 year old boy.

As long as I’m still alive I’ll continue to do all I can to reduce my environmental impact so that there might be a decent future for the young folks.
