So, my diocese (Diocese of Suwon) released an advisory letter to the parishoners this Sunday. I live in South Korea and many parishoners are concerned about this. And no, I haven’t been to China.
My diocese allowed anyone who is worried about infection to wear masks throughout Mass, and only remove it when you have to (such as receiving the Body of Christ). Anyone who is immune-compromised (which I fall into this category for having muscular dystrophy) don’t have to attend if you are really concerned about your health. If you went to China, don’t come to church unless you are cleared of the virus.
The Diocese recommends all parishoners to wash their hands before Mass, and after Mass. The priests are taking precautions, too. This is a sensitive matter and my priest says “we’re all in this together”.
I’m debating as a person with a disability to attend or not. Even a flu can cause serious complications for me and this virus seems like the next level. For now, I’m watching the news and making sure I don’t catch anything around my city!
Stay safe and God bless you.
