At 24 years old I am experiencing a rebirth of faith in God and I feel very drawn toward the Catholic church and its teachings. My whole life I thought I was Episcopalian because that’s the church into which I was baptized; however, at the age of 6 I started going to Catholic Mass with my family, I attended CCD classes for a year, and I received the sacraments of first reconciliation and first communion in the Catholic church at about the age of 9.

Even though I went back and forth between Episcopalian and Catholic churches as I got older, is it possible I’ve been part of the Catholic church all along? What steps would be necessary to bring myself into full communion with the Catholic church? Please help!

Hi,

If you attended CCD and received your first Holy Communion in the Catholic Church, you’re a Catholic alright. You need to go to Confession and you then may receive Holy Communion. You also do need to see the pastor about preparation for receiving the sacrament of Confirmation.
