Hi,
I am sitting here very sad. I go to Mass every workday morning and always get there before Mass begins and receive every time (I confess once a month). This morning I arrived during the Consecration (due to subway delay) and didn’t receive. What is the rule re: receiving during a weekday Mass? I do remember once the priest didn’t show up and Communion was distributed without Mass. I go to St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC and I love it there. Is there a set rule? I am also scrupulous. Thank you,

You could have gone to communion. Your first reception of the Eucharist on any given day does not have to be within a Eucharistic celebration in which you participate – but your second reception does (cf. CIC 917). So, if you show up just in time for communion and haven’t already received that day, you can go ahead and partake.
