Could Jesus have died a different way, and let us be saved?

Had Jesus not been tortured and killed on the cross but by some other means, would that still have counted as His sacrifice for all sin?
e.g. If He had been killed in a traffic accident by a horse and carriage?
 
His Passion, death, and Resurrection all fulfilled many, many prophecies from the Old Testament. The Crucifixion wasn’t a random event. Jesus was Incarnated in that particular time and place because it was the perfect moment to fulfill Scripture and then efficiently carry the Good News all over the known world. He had to be sacrificed, willingly, as a voluntary, sinless Lamb. He had to be raised on a tree so His accusers could behold Him. “By His stripes we are healed,” refers to His flogging and beating by the Romans. If you google about the prophecies, you can find many more.

I can’t speculate on whether a different type of death would have redeemed mankind, but I do know that Jesus was crucified for very particular reasons. Just being hit by a carriage would not have been a sacrifice and would never have happened. God was in control.
 
Jesus said that unless a grain of wheat dies, it will be nothing more than a grain of wheat–For me, Jesus had to fulfil that teaching and embrace it and perhaps, he wanted to be sure that no matter the horror of the experience, he still embraced it, but more simply, Jesus’ manner of death was up to him, the Christ , the Son in the Trinity, our God.

It was once pointed out that Herod could have killed the infant Jesus, and that would have sufficed for his sacrifice. And so rather than spending 33 years on earth, he could have allowed himself to have been killed at age 1 or 2 or whatever, and be done with it.

But he didn’t. He chose to live in obscurity with his most perfect disciple for 30 years, and then spent the last three years in public preaching, before he allowed his Passion and Death.

So, what does it tell us? Does it tell us that God is an inefficient planner, and it took him 33 years to accomplish what should have only taken him 12-24 months? Or does it tell us that he had something important to do, and that we need to pay attention to all that stuff in the middle about explaining “The Kingdom Of Heaven Is Like…” that he took the time to stick around and explain?
 
Yes, God in His infinite power could have just chosen to wipe away original sin and atone for us in any which way He so desired, though it was His plan all along and it was fitting, as the CA apologists like to say, for Him to have the plan that way.

Jesus - showed believers the way -
If their was an easier way - he would of shown us believers.
So we can’t be a chicken s*** when it comes to suffering something.
 
His death was prophecized, not an accident. It was a deliberate mission to save mankind.

… He made himself nothing, taking the nature of a servant and became what men are. He humbled himself in obedience even to death and death on the cross…

I think it had to be the cross and I think St. Paul, quoting Deuteronomy 21:23 in Galatians 3:13, may be confirming this:

"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree’”
