I started reading the Bible recently from Genesis. Following is my reading pattern.
I pray to the Holy Spirit to guide me read the scriptures.
Lord, inspire me to read your Scriptures and to meditate upon them day and night. I beg you to give me a real understanding of what I read, that I, in turn, may put its precepts into practice. Yet, I know that understanding and good intentions are worthless unless rooted in your graceful love. So I ask that the words of Scripture may also be not just signs on a page, but channels of grace into my heart. Amen.
For every passage I read, I refer to the footnotes in Vatican & USCCB websites because I know they go strictly in line with the Catholic teaching. While reading I stop by each verse that has a footnote on either of these websites to have a better understanding.
Can you suggest more methods or resources, strictly in accordance with Catholic teachings, whereby I can make my daily Bible reading more fruitful?
