I was wondering. I want to say I remeber hearing someone say that the Council of Nicaea addressed the Canon of the Bible. Does anyone know if this is true and if it is, where in the Council did they address it? Thanks and God bless.

There were two general councils held in Niceae and neither addressed the issue of Scripture. The first addressed Arianism while the second addressed the issue of Iconoclasm.

St. Jerome mentions that the Council of Nicaea accepted the book of Judith. The notion was echoed in the writings of some later fathers, but scholars today do not believe the council addressed the canon. Its more likely that the Council fathers may have used Judith in their discussions but there was not official decree concerning its canonical status. I also heard that some Islamic apologists claim that the canon was selected at this council. This, however, is baseless. Indeed, had the Council of Nicaea defined the canon, Jerome, who was solidly pro-Nicaea, would not have rejected the Deuterocanon.

“Why Catholic Bibles Are Bigger” by Gary Michuta

is only days away from being available to all. Copies are expected to be ready for sale Mid-April or sooner.

handsonapologetics.com/ is Gary’s web site… order direct from him or you can go to

grottopress.org/ which is taking orders too.

Take the time to read the comments by Steve Ray, Tim Staples, John Martignoni etc… perhaps a dull subject to some,… but Gary makes the subject come alive.

You can also get the debate with James White on this topic from Gary’s site… CD or DVD ( I believe Gary still has some VHS copies too)

speaking of Mr/Dr White… he posts at his site some support for Webster, as White and Webster would like all to believe that Gary makes things up… BUNK

Gary can prove the Catholic position from historical documents that White can not accept, lest he lose the debate again.

In all sincerity… buy the book. Even if it is not your first choice of reading… it will be an excellant reference book, and will also help Gary to continue his very effective Catholic work.

I hold in my formerly pagan-out-of-the-Catholic-Church-for-25-years hands

a copy of the newly released

"Why Catholic Bibles Are Bigger - The Untold Story Of The Lost Books Of The Protestant Bible"

Arguments about 73 or 66 usually are either ended in confusion in trying to present all the evidence, because no one (until now) has really accumulated all that evidence.

Certainly a work like this would not come from a protestant camp, lest they find themselves in error.

Gary Michuta, the author, presents over 300 pages which any serious student can check and double check. There are many footnotes, many references, many proofs that once again the Catholic position is the correct one… and it is a fairly easy read.

handsonapologetics.com/ is the website of the author, and you can link on to Grotto Press to order… a $20 reference book every “66” proponent should now consider.

Thanks Gary… but where were you 500 years ago when Luther was playing his game?😃

seriously, if one can afford to pick this up… it is not only a great and long overdue reference on the deutrocanonicals, but you would be supporting a darn good ministry too.
