does anyone know of a womens’ religious order who does counseling as an apostolate? Like child counseling? Thanks for any help you can give 🙂

I looked up some orders, and found these that you should take a look at:

Daughters of St. Mary of Providence
dsmpic.org/
–They work with disadvantaged youth as pastoral ministers, caretakers, etc. Social work would come in VERY handy.

Marian Sisters of the Diocese of Lincoln
mariansisters.org/index.html
–They have social work listed as one of their apostolates.

Daughters of Mary of the Immaculate Conception
crossfire.org/daughtersofmary/
db.religiouslife.com/reg_life/irl.nsf/org/12
–They have social services listed as their apostolate on the IRL profile.

Sisters of St. Joseph in Watertown, NY
ssjwatertown.org/

Sisters of Christian Charity, Daughters of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception
scceast.org/

So far, this is all I have found, but I am looking still. Psychology interests me very much, so this is like a good homework assignment. 😉

Try the Apostles of the Interior Life. They are a fairly new religious instutute founded solely
for the purpose of counseling & spiritual direction. They were founded in Italy & I
believe they already a congregation of Pontifical Right. They do not wear a habit & were
founded w/o one. They belong to the Insitute of Religious Life (IRL). Their main thrust in
the US is working w/young persons on-campus in the +/- Newman Club settings. They
are are stongly tied to the Teaching Magisterium of the Church.

The Daughters of Mary, Mother of Healing Love run a home for foster children, and I’m certain they work closely with counselors. If that’s your training, I’m sure they could use you.
They may not be trained counselors, but they do work very closely with the kids in need…dmml.org/default.aspx

Edit:
Also, the Religious Sisters of Mercy have a few trained psychologists and counselors. For now they work more with adults and especially priests and religious, but they are always open to the movement of the Holy Spirit, so, who knows?

God bless!
