In the sixties is was considered counter-cultural to smoke weed, the sexuak revolution and rock and roll promotoed sex and drugs. But these days, I believe it’s a polar opposite, it’s counter-cultural to avoid losing your mind, seek spiritual guidance and engage in pre-marital sex.

How do you feel?

The 1960’s counter culture was counter cultural, in that it rejected sexual and societal norms of behavior, and advocated for sexual freedom.

In many ways though, that counter culture has now become the norm, as evidenced by the increasing sexual license exhibited and expected of adults and adolescents today. Chastity is now counter cultural.

That is all I meant. It’s socially conditioned that getting drunk is acceptable, it fuels the alcohol and advertising industries and costs the public services millions because of it, but it’s the kind of behaviour than the sixties brought in to society, rejecting conservative values of their parents.

I think these days, it’s rare to find somebody that hasn’t conformed to the party lifestyle, and doing things, because their friends are. Either way, it’s hard to deny the changes that happened. Therefore my point about rejecting these normal social values and being spiritual, is counter-cultural by todays standards.
But it’s a counter that is needed, because it’s destroying peoples lives and costing the public money, looking after these people.
