Counter Reformation Primary Source

[Redbaron998]

Hey Everyone,

I am teaching a class on the counter-reformation on Monday. Does anyone know of a good primary souce document that I could read from for a hook? Something like a sermon from someone like St. Ignatius of Loyola or St. Frances De Sales. Looking for a 2-3 minute except and I thought you might be able to help me.

God Bless,
-Red

I just did a quick search, maybe some of these resources will help.

Here are saints during the “Reformation”

Here’s The Catholic Controversy which collects St. Francis de Sales’ apologetic pamphlets.

I use Dennis Janz’ *Reformation Reader for a course I’m teaching this semester; *pp. 337-442 of the third edition are made up of selections from the Catholic Reformation.

I’m not sure what exactly you are looking for. St. Ignatius’ letter to Peter Canisius, as found in text no. 117 in Janz, is perhaps a good place to start.
