Countries where Easter Monday is a holiday

Here in Switzerland, and also some other Europena countries, the Monday after Easter (as well as the Monday after Pentecost) is a holiday.
I wonder if that makes it a Holy day of Obligation? I can’t seem to find a link to the Holy Days of Obligation in Switzerland. I have been observing the U.S. ones while I am here.

Not that I think we should only go to church on holy days ob obligation (e.g. I went on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil AND Sunday mornign amss). The service tomorrow (Monday) is an outside one though, kind of early and COLD… so I’d rather not go. UNLESS it is a holy day of obligation… can anybody help?

Yeah!🙂 🙂 One of the churches in the bigger city of Basel has a mass at 11.15 tomorrow (as on Sundays) and I don’t think that one’s and outside service… I think I’ll go there!!🙂 🙂

It might be a Holy Day in your country.

It is best to check with your local parish/diocese.
 
Easter Monday’s a national holiday in the UK but not a Holy Day of Obligation. Still going to Mass is better than not going whether it’s a Holy Day of Obligation or not, and I think Easter Monday is a HDO in Germany, not sure about Switzerland though

In Ireland it is a ‘bank holiday’ - guess it is like how 3 day weekends have been created around some of the holidays in the US.

Good Friday is a statutory holiday in Canada but Easter Monday isn’t, although some unions have negotiated it as part of their benefit package.
 
Easter Monday is a public holiday here in Australia, but not an HDO - for that matter neither is Good Friday which is also a public holiday here.

I intend to go to Mass, but then I go most days anyway.
 
I went to mass today and I’m glad I did. 🙂

The priest thanked us to have appeared so numerously also on Easter MOnday. 🙂 🙂
